“Thank you so much to everyone at Ohel Sarah for the amazing work that you do. It was an honor to see firsthand the projects and to meet your wonderful clients, children, adults and parents, and the very many people who give their time to make Ohel Sarah the wonderful place that it is. Kol Hakavod!”

Mrs. Celia Gould, spouse of former British Ambassador to Israel.

“Seeing young men working in nature is beautiful and inspiring! In this day and age, where technology suppresses man’s ability to really connect to his surroundings, I am impressed by Ohel Sarah’s encouragement of its students to appreciate and live nature.”

Mr. Chaim Messing, Chairman of the Jewish National Fund, Central Israel, during his visit to Ohel Sarah’s Therapy Greenhouse.

“It is wonderful to see these women working and being involved in meaningful employment. I am a staunch believer that people with special needs deserve to feel like contributing individuals in the community. Ohel Sarah serves as an advocate for adults with disabilities and advances their right to take an active part in society”

Mr. Eli Dadon, Chairman of the Israel National Lottery.

“I have been deeply impressed by the devotion, high professional standards, care and warmth and individual attention that each student at the organization receives…and by its constant aspiration towards advancement and improvement – all carried out with the purpose of providing the best possible care to the students.”

Michal Hertzog, Wohl Foundation.

Housing

Each home houses between 4-6 residents who are supported by a team of social workers, psychologists, nurses and counsellors and aided by their own housemother/father. The homes are comfortable and fully-equipped, and the atmosphere is warm and caring. Residents master independent living skills, learning to care for personal needs and to be considerate of others. They are involved in meal planning and preparation, shopping and home maintenance, with the purpose of reaching maximum independence.

During the day, residents are enrolled in Ohel Sarah’s various employment programmes, and during the afternoon hours and evenings, they enjoy a wide range of recreational activities, therapies, trips and outings, thanks to our dedicated staff and committed volunteers.

The Housing Division operates the unique One Heart Marriage Programme for individuals with cognitive disabilities who wish to marry and establish their own family home. Within this programme, we prepare couples for marriage by helping them look after their finances, cook for each other, communication. We now support 8 married couples.

In 2021, Ohel Sarah opened two new fully independent homes for high-functioning adults. Six men moved into a shared home in Mod’iin with staff supervising from a distance. The men are responsible for their own daily schedule, getting to work on time and running their own home. A new group home was also set up for 4 young women. They spent a year preparing to live independently and are now loving their new-found independence and freedom.

Recently, we also opened a home for young boys, age 6+, with ADHD, autism and other cognitive disabilities- the first of its kind to open in Israel, as well as a home for teenage girls.

For the 7th year running, Ohel Sarah has been awarded the ISO 9001 recognition, making it one of the leading divisions of supported housing in Israel.
